Just when we think we are getting into a good routine with Carter, something else happens to throw us off.  Friday morning the fire alarm went off for like five seconds and Jeremy and I both jumped up thinking that it was going to continue longer than that and wake Carter.  Thankfully it didn’t wake him, but after being jolted out of bed, we were both wide awake.  We finally crawled out of bed around 5am to start our day. I only lasted until 7:30 before having to take a nap though.

Last night the Suttons, Ian, and Todd all arrived, making our little boy excited late at night. He didn’t fall asleep until almost nine and then woke up at around 10:45 when we came to bed.  Then he continued to wake up all through the night and finally was up at 5:30am. Daddy brought him out to the living room to watch a video, but he apparently wanted Mommy the whole time and kept calling for me.  I finally rolled out of bed to try to keep him quiet so that he didn’t wake the whole house. Today is going to be nap-intense for him, haha, and for me.

In the meantime, we got the kiddie pool set up in the driveway on Thursday so that Carter can play in the water in the afternoons. It is this ten foot long inflatable thing with a slide (thank you Costco) that he climbs all over and loves.  We often get a “pooo” for pool when he is ready to go out in it, though this morning he actually said, “pool”. It is supposed to be in the upper 80s and into the 90s over the next few days, so we may end up heading to the lake so Carter can play in the sand.

We had a first for Carter as well – there is a fun playground at the Lake Wenatchee State Park, so we try to take Carter there once a day to break up the time. He climbed up the stairs to the platform and went down the slide all by himself for the very first time! It was his first big-kid milestone and we sat there amazed as he did this little circle and we watched.

Here are some photos from the pool on Friday:
