I went back and forth on whether or not to continue with a photography project this year. I got so incredibly behind last year with posting photos that December ended up being a massive push all at once. I still need to go back to cull, tag and edit over twelve thousand photos that I took this last year. And no, I am not exaggerating that number … my 2017 folder currently sits at 12,564 photos. Granted many of these will be deleted, but I still need to go through them.
But before I started that electronic housekeeping, I decided I really, really should make a photo book out of everything I took last year. And as I was going through those photos to make a photo book, I realized I need to continue doing this – these two boys are growing so fast and changing so much that I don’t care that I ended up with a big push in December. I took the photos pretty much every single day and have these wonderful moments captured that I will always cherish. Even if no one ever looks at them or only my mom reads my blog, I have them and the boys will have them and that is what matters to me.
So onward with 2018. I typically theme my yearly projects (My Imperfectly Perfect Life, My Family Photo Journal) that I was thinking this years theme should be Living with Boys. Because pretty much everything I photograph revolves around the boys in my life. And this theme may end up lasting quite a bit longer than this year, haha. Here is Week 1 (and I am numbering my dates from here on out cause I always seem to mess them up!):
Day 1 | January 1, 2018
Starting out the New Year right – this kid made his own omelet (with only a little help flipping from dad) to have a power breakfast packed with protein.
Day 2 | January 2, 2018
Nothing says starting off the New Year like a huge expense! After chewing apart two retainers, I finally asked the orthodontist if there was anything else we could do that wasn’t throwing away money. Braces were recommended, so off we went. Carter was a champ with getting these things put on.
Day 3 | January 3, 2018
Who knew that 3D printing would be so fun? Jeremy received an amazing Christmas gift and has been having a blast figuring out all the fun stuff to print.
Day 4 | January 4, 2018
Annnnd now we have to look around for all the cool things you can print with the 3D printer… notice the yellow xbox remote control holder in the background that was created yesterday.
Day 5 | January 5, 2018
Friday night soccer is back! I had to get a funny photo of our post game hydration.
January 6, 2018
Wonder who found these cool minecraft pencil toppers to make with the 3D printer?
January 7, 2018
The happy face before the unhappy prospect of having to go to bed after running and playing with friends tonight …
