This first week is not going to be about photography as much as it is a personal account of where my life is right now. I made the decision to quit my job at Microsoft after almost 14 years so that I can spend more time with my two young boys. My entire career has been at that company in some capacity or another and this is the first time since I was a teenager where I will not be pulling in a paycheck. It is scary, it is exhilarating, I am looking forward to every moment and I know that my new job is going to be infinitely more difficult than the one I just left.
So for my first Project 52 photo, this is a view of my old office taken with my phone. I worked at The Bravern in Bellevue on the 11th floor and the cloud cover made the peek-a-boo view of Seattle between two buildings a little harder to distinguish, but you can still see it. Apparently I was gone all of 45 minutes before someone moved in. Oh those coveted window offices…

Why This Photo:
I took a couple of different shots from different angles, but this one gave the best view of my office and view out the window.
HAAA… normally this would be a reflection on my experience to get to this photo, but with the subject matter I am having to suppress all sorts of snarky comments. Some non-snarky ones: Working full time with two small children has to have been one of the most difficult things I have ever experienced. Trying to balance and juggle everything, the guilt, a whole new way of prioritizing to survive, wishing I could put people at work in a time out when their behavior warranted it… okay so I had to have a little bit of snarkiness. I am so grateful for the opportunity to stay home with my two boys for a bit.
