Why This Photo:
Gavin got his first haircut today and this photo was the best one the captured the actual cut and how he did throughout the whole thing (which was AWESOME!). I decided to put it to black and white because all the bright colors were distracting from what was going on.
It is hard to both be a photographer and a mom – I wanted to make sure that I documented the process so that we could enjoy it later, but I also wanted to enjoy the moment. There was a lot of snapping a few photographs, then helping keep him occupied so the stylist could continue the cut. From a photo perspective, it was hard to find a good angle that showed what the stylist was doing without completely hovering or losing sight of her hands/his head. I found myself apologizing throughout, which I really shouldn’t. Old habits die hard I guess…
